Music

Chancel Choirs

The 9:00 am and 11:15 pm St. John’s Chancel Choirs assist the Rector in leading worship by singing hymns, service music and anthems. Our hymns are taken from the 1982 Hymnal, and our anthems and special music are drawn from eras ranging from the early Middle Ages to recent decades. It is not necessary to be able to read music in order to participate in our choir. Our Chancel Choirs rehearse together on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. We love welcoming new members to our choirs! For more information contact Alan Potts, Organist and Choir Director, or contact our parish office.

Handbell Choir

St. John’s Bell Choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the church. The bell choir plays at the 9:00 am or the 11:15 am service. They also play at other special services. We love welcoming new members to our Bell Choir! For more information contact Alan Potts, Organist and Choir Director, or contact our parish office.

Junior Choir

The St. John’s Junior Choir is open to children age 4 through the 8th grade. The Junior Choir sings frequently during our 9:00 am Eucharist. In addition to receiving voice training and basic music instruction, the children also learn to play Orff Instruments, and enjoy fun and fellowship with each other. We love welcoming new members to our Junior Choir! The St. John’s Junior Choir is directed by Diane Lange.

Today marks the twenty year anniversary of the passing of Kenneth Stringer, a loving husband to Sarah Golding Stringer, father to Matt Stringer, and faithful and beloved parishioner of St. John’s. We thought it meet and right to share pictures of the beautifully restored Stringer Memorial Garden today. There will be more photos to come and details of all those involved in the restoration process, but for now we want to share this verse today as we remember dear Kenneth. Please join us in praying for the Stringer family.“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 ESV ... See MoreSee Less
