Back Yard Progress… Over the past several weeks work has begun again on our back property as part of our ongoing project for children and families. We have had the old asphalt removed, replaced it with new topsoil and sod, and dug a mulch pit in preparation for the new playground. The work thus far has been funded mostly by some member donations plus a lot of time and labor, under the project management of Scott Price and his company, Fort Construction. Also forthcoming is a new basketball half-court with pole, backboard, and goal, also graciously donated. In addition to great efforts and contributions by Scott and his people, many hours have been invested into making this project a success by Marty Smith and Don Lange, as well as Mindy Opitz who has been researching playground equipment options. At some point in the near future a funding plan for the completion of the project will be put before the whole parish. With the enthusiastic financial support of many additional members, progress will continue. In addition to finishing the playground and ball court, plans are to include a play space for very young children, an outdoor seating area for adults with benches, picnic tables, and umbrellas, as well as a glass double-door access from Mitchell Hall.
