Baptism

BaptismThe Sacrament of Holy Baptism

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is the foundation of, and the initial step into, the Christian life. It is the first of seven Sacraments.  We celebrate the sacrament of Baptism during Sunday Mass at either 9:00 am or 11:15 am. Parents are required to spend time with the Clergy for Baptism preparation for their children. This preparation will discuss the theological, sacramental and biblical foundations of baptism.

Please speak to the Rector to schedule a date. Complete this form at least two weeks prior to the date of Baptism.

Selecting Proper Sponsors for Baptism

A “sponsor” is another name for a “godparent.” Those who you ask to serve as sponsors are to be practicing Christians that demonstrate a close walk with the Lord in their life and who will take an active role in your childs faith formation and life. Sponsors are given a prayer card and are encouraged to pray for their godchild often.

A child will usually have two sponsors or godparents. Sponsors must be at least 16 years of age and at least one must be confirmed as an Episcopalian or Anglican.
